Terms & Conditions

1. Purpose

These Terms and Conditions govern the conditions for renting fitted campervans offered by Van'Africa Roadtrips for travel in South Africa. They apply to the exclusion of any other conditions.

2. Booking & confirmation

• The booking is initiated by submitting the request form on van-africa.com.
• It becomes firm and definitive upon receipt of the 30% deposit of the total amount.
• A written confirmation is sent by email within 48 hours of the deposit payment.
• Van'Africa reserves the right to refuse any booking without having to give reasons.

3. Rates & payment

• Rates are expressed in euros, all taxes included.
• A 30% deposit is required at booking.
• The balance is due no later than 30 days before the pick-up date.
• For bookings made less than 30 days before departure, the full amount is due at booking.
• Accepted payment methods are communicated upon confirmation.

4. Cancellation by the renter

• Cancellation more than 45 days before departure: full refund of deposit.
• Cancellation between 45 and 15 days before departure: 50% credit valid for 12 months.
• Cancellation less than 15 days before departure: no refund. The full rental amount is due.
• All cancellations must be notified in writing to hello@van-africa.com.

5. Cancellation by Van'Africa

In the event of cancellation by Van'Africa (force majeure, vehicle unavailability), the renter is fully refunded within 14 days. Van'Africa cannot be held responsible for any other costs (transport, accommodation, etc.).

6. Pick-up & return

• Pick-up takes place in Cape Town, between 9am and 11am, upon presentation of a valid driving licence and identity document.
• A security deposit blocked on a bank card is required at pick-up (amount depending on the van rented).
• The renter must report any pre-existing damage during the inspection.
• Return takes place before 4pm at the agreed address. Any unnotified delay will be charged by the hour.

7. Use of the vehicle

• The vehicle is reserved for use exclusively in South Africa.
• Any exit from South African territory is strictly prohibited.
• The driver must hold a valid licence and be at least 23 years old.
• The number of passengers must not exceed the capacity stated in the contract.
• Smoking inside the vehicle is prohibited.
• The vehicle must not be used on tracks requiring a 4x4 vehicle.

8. Insurance & liability

• Comprehensive insurance with reduced excess is included in the rate.
• The renter remains liable for damages up to the excess stated in the contract.
• A zero excess option is available at extra cost.
• Van'Africa accepts no liability for damage to the renter's personal belongings.
• In the event of an accident, the renter undertakes to contact Van'Africa immediately and not to leave the scene before a report has been drawn up.

9. Applicable law & disputes

• These Terms and Conditions are subject to French law.
• In the event of a dispute, an amicable solution will be sought as a priority.
• In the absence of an amicable agreement, the dispute will be brought before the competent courts within the jurisdiction of Van'Africa's registered office.
• In accordance with the provisions of the Consumer Code, the client may resort to a consumer mediator.
