Booking

Van'Africa opens bookings mid-2027. You can now register on our launch list to be informed as a priority and benefit from the launch offer.

Yes, a 30% deposit is required at booking. The balance is due 30 days before departure.

The Vans

The Duo Van is designed for 2 people maximum — compact, agile, ideal for couples and solo travellers. The Family Van accommodates up to 4 people with two separate sleeping areas and more storage space.

Every van includes: complete bedding (sheets, pillows, blankets), equipped kitchen (2-burner hob, refrigerator, crockery), outdoor solar shower, 4G/WiFi connection, 220V and USB outlets, LED lighting, exterior awning, first aid kit and fire extinguisher.

Our vans are 2-wheel-drive vehicles on a fitted van base. They are suitable for well-maintained gravel roads (very common in South Africa), but are not designed for intensive off-road driving. We advise you on which roads to avoid according to your itinerary.

No. All our packages include unlimited mileage in South Africa.

Practical & Logistics

Vans are available in Cape Town. We also offer a delivery service (on quote) within a 100 km radius of the Cape.

An ordinary driving licence (category B) is sufficient. International driving permits are accepted. We accept French, Belgian, Swiss, British, Australian, American and Canadian licences without translation.

Pick-up takes place between 9am and 11am. Return is expected before 4pm. Adapted slots can be arranged on request.

No. Van'Africa vans are reserved for use in South Africa only. Any exit from the territory is strictly prohibited and would result in immediate termination of the contract.

Insurance & Safety

Every rental includes comprehensive insurance with reduced excess (1,500 ZAR), third-party liability insurance, and 24/7 roadside assistance coverage. A zero excess option is available at extra cost.

Van'Africa has a network of partners across all itineraries. In case of breakdown, our team is reachable 24/7. We cover towing and, if necessary, the provision of a replacement vehicle.

Yes, with the usual precautions. South Africa is a well-developed road trip destination. We provide a comprehensive safety guide at pick-up, including areas to avoid, parking advice and local emergency contacts.

Campsites & Accommodation

We recommend booking campsites on the busiest sections (Knysna, Tsitsikamma, Cape Point) at least 4 to 6 weeks in advance, especially in high season (December–January). On the rest of the itinerary, improvisation is generally possible.

Yes. We have selected and negotiated preferential rates with around twenty campsites on our main itineraries. The list is provided with the travel kit at pick-up.

Wild camping is regulated in South Africa. Outside official campsites, you can park on private property with the owner's consent, or use specialised platforms such as CamperMate or Park4Night.
