Data controller

As Van'Africa opens for bookings in mid-2027, this policy will be updated once the booking and payment flow goes live, to precisely describe the data collected at that stage.
Data we collect today
Waitlist sign-up.When you sign up to be informed of the launch, we collect your first name, last name, phone number, email address, country of residence, and how you heard about Van'Africa. This data is used to keep you updated on the project and the opening of bookings, and to better understand our audience so we can tailor our communication (language, channels used).
Direct contact. If you email hello@van-africa.com, we keep your message and email address in order to reply.
Audience-measurement cookies. With your consent only, we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (pages visited, traffic source). Your IP address is anonymised before processing. You can accept, decline, or change your choice at any time via the « Manage cookies » link at the bottom of every page.
Why we collect it (purpose and legal basis)
The waitlist and message handling rely on your consent, given by filling in the relevant form. Google Analytics cookies also rely on your explicit consent, collected via the cookie banner. You can withdraw this consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing already carried out.
Who receives this data
Your data is never sold or rented to third parties. It is only shared with the technical providers needed to run the site:
- Vercel Inc. (site hosting) — see our Legal Notice for full details.
- Google Ireland Limited (Google Analytics), only if you have accepted cookies.
Transfers outside the European Union
Vercel Inc. and Google are US-based companies. These transfers of data outside the European Union are governed by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, adopted by these providers for their European offerings.
Retention period
- Waitlist: until you unsubscribe, or 3 years after your last interaction with our emails.
- Contact messages: 3 years from the last exchange.
- Google Analytics cookies: 13 months maximum, in line with CNIL (French data protection authority) recommendations.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict the processing of, object to, and port your data, and to withdraw your consent at any time. To exercise these rights, email hello@van-africa.com. We respond within one month at the latest.
If you believe your rights are not being respected, you may lodge a complaint with the French supervisory authority, the CNIL (3 Place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07, France), or with your own country's data protection authority.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure, including encrypting data in transit (HTTPS) and relying on reputable providers (Vercel, Google).
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated, in particular once bookings open. The last update date is shown at the top of this page.
